Linezolid
Indications
Linezolid is indicated for the treatment of serious Gram-positive bacterial infections, particularly when they are resistant to standard antibiotics. It is used to manage pneumonia, bloodstream infections, and complicated skin and soft tissue infections, including those caused by MRSA. Linezolid is also effective against vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE), including cases of VRE bacteremia. It is commonly prescribed for patients who cannot tolerate other antibiotics and is useful in treating certain surgical site infections due to its strong activity against resistant organisms.
