Indications
Semaglutide is indicated for improving blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes when used alongside diet and exercise, and it also helps reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in those with existing cardiovascular disease. It is approved for weight management in adults and adolescents with obesity or overweight who have weight-related health conditions. Additionally, semaglutide is used to lower the risk of kidney function decline in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. It is also approved for treating metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in adults with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis, provided they do not have cirrhosis.
